Arthr Fast has an array
of techniques, but what I most enjoy is whimsical approach to subject matter,
his loose technique with emphasis on certain objects, and his use of color.
I mean,
seriously.
Holy cow, that is some
beautiful stuff!
He has a similar approach to Fast, but his works are softer, more
generous in the approach to how brush strokes are made. His use of dramatic
lighting and negative spacing is very compelling, as well.
I follow this guy’s personal blog on tumblr, and I absolutely love
seeing progress drawings, sketches, thumbnails and the like. I extremely dig
his energetic style! (Hint: I would love to do something similar in the future.
Dude is the BOMB.)
Hou-Bim: hou-bim.tumblr.com
Another loose-style artist, I am a fan or the environments that
Hou-Bim creates with such delicate attention to color choice and placement.
Kilian

Kilian is the master at designing the layout of a piece of art,
hands down. He works on various movie covers, special commissions, and
seriously loves the use of blues.
Matt
Rockefeller
Rockefeller is pretty
similar to the above artists in techniques. What I think makes him stand out is
that most of his pieces deal with the concept of nostalgia (in one form or
another).
Jake
Lawrence
Illustrator and creator
of the somewhat newly poplar Teen Dog
comics, Lawrence (A.K.A. timecowboy) plays to his strengths of vibrant,
analogous color choices and bold line work.
In a similar approach to Jake Lawrence, Correll uses simplicity to
her advantage. Her work usually depicts herself, her dogs, cute animals, or
other mundane objects and activities in a humorous light. She generally uses a
limited color scheme, ranging from black and white, to black and white with various
primary colors.
